Marthoma Industrial Training Institute, Anchal is owned and managed by Marthoma Sabha Thiruvanandapuram- Kollam Diocese.

That was what people in the Villages surrounding the place by name kannancode in Anchal said in late seventies, when a batch of enterprising and eminent personalities of the Trivandrum- Quilon Diocese of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church revealed their plans in setting up an Industrial Training Centre there.

They had analysed the prevailing worst conditions of youn- gsters in that rural area and have realized the imperative necessity to industrialise the hither to under developed area inorder to apen wide avenues to create employment opportunities for the rural youn- gsters. Against heavy odds, the diocese went about the Villages/ parishes canvassing financial support for their new venture. They undertook the task with a missionary zeal and were so confident of the success of their venture which was solely aimed for the rural development and to accelerate the Industrial occupation of the loca- lity. It is, indeed, a glowing tribute to their tenacity and drive that they were able to set up bthe Industrial Training Centre in 1979 with the whole hearted support and blessings of the Diocesean Bishop and to keep their promise to the local public.

Today Mar Thoma I. T. I, a sprawling Industrial Training Institute, struddling the high way at Kannancode, exactly 1/3 way from Anchal to Channapettah, has Now been nurtured and developed by an able, vivacious, competent principal. under the guidance of an astute management. New it is fully organised and equipped as in government IT. I’s for the conduct of regular 1. T. I. courses in the different Vocational Trades. It is in the Vanguard and ranks among the leading 1. T. C’s with a tradition of orderly excellence and Fascinating results rendering optimum result oriented training, with a sense of achievement to the trainees. It stands as a mute tribute to the pioneering efforts of the Trivandrum-Quilon Diocese of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church providing gainful employment opportunities to the local driving and aspiring youths.

Marthoma I. T. I. is located in an ideal plot of 123 Acres, about 3 Kms South East of Anchal, (Kannancode) and is easily accessible from any place by buses plying regularly between Anchal and Channapettah, or Anakulam or Kadakal via karukone, (only 15 minutes walk from Anchal by short cut)
